DNF Friday

It’s Friday! Yay! In a few hours, I’ll be off from work and hopefully relaxing, but I wanted to introduce a new weekly segment titled “DNF Friday- should it stay or should it go?” The purpose of this is to get feedback on books that I started but did not finish (DNF).

This week’s book is…

Three Dark Crowns by Kendare Blake

When kingdom come, there will be one.

In every generation on the island of Fennbirn, a set of triplets is born—three queens, all equal heirs to the crown and each possessor of a coveted magic. Mirabella is a fierce elemental, able to spark hungry flames or vicious storms at the snap of her fingers. Katharine is a poisoner, one who can ingest the deadliest poisons without so much as a stomachache. Arsinoe, a naturalist, is said to have the ability to bloom the reddest rose and control the fiercest of lions.

But becoming the Queen Crowned isn’t solely a matter of royal birth. Each sister has to fight for it. And it’s not just a game of win or lose…it’s life or death. The night the sisters turn sixteen, the battle begins.

The last queen standing gets the crown.”

Thoughts: I attempted to read this when it first released way back in 2016 . Since then, it’s been collecting dust on my shelf, which definitely saddens me. I didn’t get too far in the book but it really just didn’t grab my attention at the time.   I plan on donating some books to libraries and other organizations in the upcoming months. This may be one of them.

So… should it stay, or should it go? Have you read it? What did you think?

  1. It had a pretty slow start from what I remember so I ended up dnfing this one too unfortunately. It is well-loved by a lot of people though.
