Happy New Year Bookworms!!! We have made it to 2021! My word for this year is consistency. As far as my personal life, I want to be more consistent with self-care & fitness, relationships with friends and family, and more. What this means as far as reading is just blogging on a more consistent basis as well as reviewing. Let’s get into a few of my other goals.
Challenges
This year I’m participating in a few reading challenges. I’ve set my Goodreads goal at 111 books. This is higher than my 75-book goal last year ( I ended up reading 118/75 books). I will have a less strenuous coursework load from grad school, so I think that this number will definitely be attainable for me.
New year means a new reading planner. This year I have the Always Fully Booked planner. It comes with a few challenges including the A-Z challenge, On the cover challenge, Reading Rainbow challenge, and finally the Little Inklings Reading challenge. I’m not sure that I will get to all of these, but we will see.
I will be participating in four main challenges.
The 2021 Popsugar Challenge: Check it out here. This will be my first year attempting and I am really excited.
TygerGal Reads Challenge: Check it out here. I absolutely love this blogger and am so excited to see what content she brings in 2021. When she announced the challenge, I knew I wanted to participate.
Beat the Backlist Challenge: Check it out here. I will not be doing any of the prompts, but I will be keeping track of how many of my unread owned TBR I get to in 2021. Check out my blog post where I talk about how many unread books that I currently have on my physical TBR list…we will not talk about eBooks lol.
PeanutButterTaco Romance Challenge: One of my favorite Etsy shops put out a sticker challenge that is all about romance. As you know, I really delved into romance ( mostly Black indie romance) in 2020 and that is something I plan to continue reading in 2021. Some of the prompts include things such as “forbidden love,” “love triangle,” “stuck together,” and so on and so forth. I am really excited.
…Now that I am writing all of this out…why did y’all let me do all of these challenges? Lol. While I will not use the same book more than once within one challenge, I will be using one book within multiple challenges so hopefully it won’t be too bad.
Other Goals
Attend a minimum of twelve virtual book events. As someone with social anxiety, I really can appreciate these virtual events that have been happening lol. This past year I’ve really enjoyed attending book discussions, meet the author, and so much more. I’m so thankful for everyone who hosts these events. They are so much fun! Would highly recommend.
I also plan to catch up on / finish series I’ve started. Check out my blog post for the series I want to finish/ continue in 2021.
I plan to continue reading Alexandra Warren’s catalog of books. This year I’m also hoping to make my way through Christina C. Jones’s catalog of books as well. I am looking forward to reading more from these two authors! I have loved everything I have read from them so far.
My last reading goal is just to continue to grow this blog and interact more within the book community as a whole. I am so thankful for all of you who check out my posts (no matter how much I ramble, lol), comment, and so much more!
I have a few more goals but I think this is a great place to end it. I hope you guys have an amazing day! Again, Happy New Year!
