May Wrap-up

We have made it through the month of May. It has definitely been a stressful month. I was able to escape a bit  through books and television ( How to Get Away with Murder and King of Queens, I thank you lol).

I did not finish (DNF) two books this month.

Get A Life Chloe Brown by Talia Hibbert– This was my second attempt to read this book. I usually don’t attempt to push myself to read books that I put to the side but I’ve heard some good things about this book ( the second book in the series, “Take a Hint, Dani Brown, releases  June 23rd by the way). Sadly, I just was not able to get into it.

What Lies Between Us by John Marrs– Now this one I will definitely be giving another chance in the future. I started this after reading “ Clap When You Land” (which I loved) and had book hangover. I just could not really focus. So I set it to the side and decided to switch up genres. I do plan on reading this book in the future.

Books I Added to My Collection

Before I even get to my books acquired during the month of May… I gave into peer pressure big time! Lol. There have been so many book recommendations and so many ebook deals that I just could not resist! Do not judge me. And to a certain Facebook book club, I definitely place the majority of the blame on you lol.

Clap When You Land by Elizabeth Acevedo

The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes by Suzanne Collins

A Good Marriage by Kimberly McCreight

Akata Witch by Nnedi Okorafor

The Henna Artist by Alka Joshi

The Vanishing Stair by Maureen Johnson

**I should really make June a no buy month but I know a few of my favorite authors have hinted about some surprise releases so here’s looking at you July. **

How many books did you read in May? Any anticipated releases in June?

April Monthly Wrap-Up

Is it just me, or did the month of April just breeze on by? My birthday came and went and I am officially 33.Woohoo!   As you all know, I’m a mood reader. With that being said… I only read two of the books on my April TBR. This month, I wanted to be more mindful of the books that I added to my May TBR (which will be posted shortly).

In addition to this blog, you can add me as a friend on GR here and add me on Instagram here! I look forward to connecting with you all! So excited to get my bookstagram up and running! ❤

The books I read in April were:

Seasons of Fidelity: Endgame by Takerra Allen (4.5 stars-check out my review here).

A Woman is No Man by Etaf Rum (4 stars- Check out my review here)

Living Single by K. Yvette ( 4 stars)

Living Single 2 by K. Yvette ( 4 stars)

Carter Boys 1 by Desiree (4 stars)

Carter Boys 2 by Desiree- ( 4 stars)

The Last Mrs. Parrish by Liv Constantine – This book was a DNF for me. The pacing was little off. In its defense, I was coming off from reading SOF3 and A Woman is No Man which were both really good books so I may revisit it again the future. Possibly.

“ A Woman is No Man” and “ Seasons of Fidelity 3” were both added to my favorites of 2020 list. ❤

So, there you have it. 6 books read this month. What books did you read in April? Did you have any standouts?

March Wrap-Up

Hey y’all! I hope this post finds everyone in good spirits considering everything that is going on. Hope everyone is doing great and continuing to #flattenthecurve as much as they can. March was a busy month for me but I managed to read 10 books ( and play a whole lot of Animal Crossing lol)!  More about the reading in just a sec.

After having so much time on my hands, I finally had the chance to do a little unhauling. It was a tough decision but in the end, I got rid of four books:

The Best Laid Plans ( I DNF this book.)

The Book Thief

The Last Magician

Tell Me Three Things

But for each one book that gets donated, there are at least two more to fill its place.lol. I added

The Sundown Motel by Simone St. James (physical)

Undercover Bromance by Lyssa Kay Adams (physical)

Wayward Children Series ( books 2-5) by Seagan ( eBooks)

Tony Story by Meek Mill ( ebook)

Brown Sugar by D. Rose (eBook)

Love Notes by Christina C. Jones (eBook)

Stay with Me by Alexandria House ( eBook)

Pretty Girls by Karin Slaughter (eBook)

As mentioned earlier, I read ten books this month.

I plan to catch up on reviews this weekend so keep an eye out! I’ll update this post to link the reviews after.

I read the Wayward Children series

  • Every Heart A Doorway
  • Down Among the Sticks and Bones
  • Beneath the Sugar Sky
  • In An Absent Dream
  • Come Tumbling Down

I also finished up the Love Burn Series by Ashley Antoinette ( books 2 & 3 not pictured) as well as an ARC for her upcoming book, Butterfly 2.

I read a novella by new to me author, Alexandra Warren titled ” Uncovered Truths”. Super cute and steamy, can’t wait to read more from her.

So there you have it. My March wrapped up. So how was your March? What books did you read? Did you have any favorites? Any DNFs? I look forward to hearing from you! ❤

February Wrap- UP

Hey! Time for a much overdo wrap-up and update on my life. The good news is …I’m finally done with those two classes that were giving me such a headache for the past few months! Woohoo. A’s in both classes. I have a week off before starting another class, but I am thankful for the break as well as one less course. This all equals more reading time. Speaking of reading, time for the bad news. : (.  I only read a total of three books in Feb. Count em, THREE,3,tres. They were Locke and Key by Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodriguez , The Bromance Book Club by Lyssa Jay Adams, and Shu by Alexandria House. Of the three, The Bromance Book Club was definitely my favorite ( which reminds me, I need to do a review asap).

Although I may not have been buying books last month, I definitely acquired quite a few.

Here’s a list:

Slay by Brittney Morris (physical)

Rebel by Marie Lu ( physical)

The New Husband by D.J Palmer ( physical- ARC)

Well-Read Black Girl- Anthology(physical)

Get a Life, Chloe Brown by Talia Hibbert (physical)

The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides (physical)

Locke & Key(#1) by Joe Hill and Gabriel ( e-book)

The Black Effect by Charae Lewis ( e-book)

The Princess and the Fangirl by Ashley Poston ( e-book)

The Diviners by Libba Bray ( e-book)

As for books I plan on reading this month, it’s totally up in the air. I am 100% a mood reader so I can’t say for certain what I will be reading. I would love to finish “ Slay” by Brittney Morris that I’ve been buddy reading. I will most definitely be reading the sequel to The Bromance Book Club by Lyssa Kay Adams, “The Undercover Bromance” which releases March 10th. Other than that, whatever calls to me like the sea calls to Moana is what I will be reading lol.

So, I guess that about wraps it up. How did your February go?
