April Wrap-Up

Hello, hello, hello! Happy Friday! I can’t believe we have reached the end of April! This has definitely been a busy month. I celebrated my 34th birthday on the 21st. My son had spring football training. I’ve started trying to eat healthier ( don’t ask me about the box of Krispy Kreme doughnuts sitting on my kitchen counter, lol.) I definitely kept busy and ended up in a huge reading slump* boo*.  My go to is to always just let the reading slump take place so that’s what I did. For May, I do plan on switching it up and catching up on some books in other genres but more about that later. Let’s get into what I read in April!

Looking Ahead to May

These are my confessions….remember when I said I was going to be reading a lot of the books I already owned? Throw that out of the window! The first quarter of 2021 has been a bust lol. I have been reading books via Kindle Unlimited nonstop. I have been buying new books left and right. And my unread books continue to stare me down each and every time I look at my shelf, lol! Of the 21 books I said I was going to read in 2021, I’ve read four so far so that’s something, go me!

For May, I’m really going to attempt to read from my shelves and Kindle for the most part. However, there are some new releases coming out ( especially on May 4th) that I am definitely checking for so I make no promises, lol.

The Facebook Group, TBR and Beyond, is hosting a fun challenge titled Middle Grade May, which I am super excited about. I don’t have my TBR ready at all but a few owned books that  I know I will be reading are:

Amari and the Night Brothers by BB Alston

Wundersmith by Jessica Townsend

Hollowpox by Jessica Townsend

Tristan Strong Punches a Hole in the Sky by Kwame Mbalia

I am also really in a thriller mood. I attempted to read “ The Guest List” this month but for some reason it just was not catching my attention. I may try it again in the future but for now, I’m hoping to find a faster paced thriller/ mystery read.

So yeah, that’s  how my April went. I’m looking forward to a great May. Only about three and a half more weeks until I am officially on summer vacation! I have so many great things in the works that I am super excited about. I can’t wait to share!

What books did you read in April? Any new favorites? Let me know in the comments. As always, Happy Reading and thanks for stopping by!
